Roshawn + Calvin [Dallas Engagement Photographer]
WHAT: Engagements | WHEN: April 20, 2010
I don't photograph very many weddings by choice, but I could do engagement sessions all. day. long. For me, these are my favorite sessions to do because - let's face it - everybody's in a good mood and, as much as I love to photograph kiddos, it's nice every once in a while to do a session where I don't have to chase after my mini-subjects for 90 minutes and eat grass to make them laugh. Although, occasionally eating grass makes couples laugh, too. One suggestion, though, for photographers that want to try this... scan the grass for bugs before putting it in your mouth.
I've known Roshawn since way back in her days at Texas Instruments, and I was honored that she and Calvin asked me to photograph their wedding in late June in Dallas. After a couple rainouts, we went out a couple weekends ago to create some engagement images of them, and it was so relaxing... everyone was so laid back and the Texas spring weather couldn't have been more perfect. Can't wait to photograph their big day this summer.

WHAT: Engagements, Families, News, Portraits | WHEN: November 25, 2009
I'm waaaay behind on blogging lately, but I'm finally getting around to posting some great sessions I've had recently, including friends Chris & Lindsay. You can catch the initial post when I met up with them back in Ohio here.
And now, some more of my favorite images from their killer session. I. Miss. Autumn. In. Ohio.

Photo interuption. Tucker needed a little attention before going on with the session.

Day 300 ~ Brandon + Stacey [Engaged]
Wanted to give a shout out to my buddy, Brandon, and his shiny new fianceé, Stacey. If you follow the blog, you may remember Brandon from earlier this summer when he got his GQ on for a little photo shoot. Sorry ladies, this one's taken. Stacey is such a sweetheart, and I couldn't be happier for these two.
Last night after blindfolding her, carrying her through some muddy terrain at the park they had their first date at (see shoes below), reciting a poem to her and getting down on one knee, Brandon asked for Stacey's hand in marriage. Apparently feeling pretty confident she would say yes [grin], Brandon planned a little engagement party at my friend Jeff's house last night for after the big moment. We didn't get their 'til late becasue of a photo shoot and a dinner we had to go to earlier in the evening, but I had my camera in the car from the earlier session and cranked it up to ISO 4000 to fire off a few quick images of the soon-to-be husband and wife.
Congratualtions, Brandon & Stacey!

City Shoot - The Rest of the Story
As promised, here's a follow up to yesterday's post of Justin & Hayley. Here's a few more of my favorites from our shoot in downtown Dallas yesterday.
|
This one was a bit of a misfire, but I actually liked the way it turned out. Ahh... serendipity.
|
This one we added a little fill light with an off-camera flash with a 20x20" softbox.
|
We were just glad the alarm on this police car didn't go off when they touched it. We were prepared to run.
|
A variation of the image above. I shot almost this exact same pose for another couple quite awhile ago, but I just love how effortless and GQ Justin and Hayley looked. TIna and I were also experimenting here a bit and added a little off-camera flash to get a little more dramatic feel on this one.
|
Love this image of Hayley looking at Justin.
|
There ya have it. Thanks, Hayley and Justin, for indulging us on this just-for-fun camera play time. And thanks, Tina, for doing all the legwork to make this happen. It felt great to just get out for fun and experiment and try some new things, and I look forward to doing it again soon!

Day 79 ~ City Shoot
My friend and rising photography star Tina and I went down town for a little just-for-fun session late this afternoon just to try some new things out and experiment a little. She solicited and secured a couple models, namely Hayley and Justin, a recently married super-fun couple (Hayley works with Tina) that agreed to meet us down town after driving back from Austin for the weekend. I'm not sure they knew what they were getting themselves into, but I hope they had half as much fun as Tina and I did.
I'll post more on these two in the next day or two, but lemme tell ya now, we got some rockin' images of them. Here's just one little one to wet your palette.
