kendra  I full support your torturous death of these vile creatures. Sorry, Lana. The way these things ravage a plant and strip it clean in a matter of days, sharing none of it with the owners of the plant, makes me fear their tyrranical nature. I say fry 'em in the trash can.  Sep 13, 2009 ~ 10:06am
Elaine  Again, acting as the lawyer for these umm...err...creatures, we object!! They should've at least been given one phone call...and a last meal. Or maybe they all ready ate their last meal...Tomato anyone? Great pics...creepy...but great!  Sep 11, 2009 ~ 7:28am
Olga  Matt. Those pics are great! I love the colors. And my grandson loves this kind of worms, so he will wants to see them tomorrow.  Sep 11, 2009 ~ 1:42am
Matt  Lana ~ Bwahaha. These are horn worms, not fuzzy, cute, cuddly little caterpillars, and they eat tomato plants. We had a choice to make... try to save the life of our tomatoes (which got my vote), or let these guys live and feast on the fruits of our labor and then turn into moths. If they turned into nice, pleasant, pretty little butterflies, I might've given them a different fate. Instead, they turn into gargantuan ugly, scary lookin' moths (a.k.a. birdzillas). It was a tough call, but in the end the vegetable cannibals had to go.  Sep 11, 2009 ~ 12:42am
Lana  Seriously???? You killed ten beautiful butterflies! They were eating like that becasue they were about to build a coccoon...Sorry, I guess the Science major comes out in me occassionally and I let them have a plant or two...I lost a huge Penta plant this year but it is growing back. I am a softy...even for caterpillars...I am losing it, aren't I? :)  Sep 10, 2009 ~ 8:54pm
Elena  Awesome images... ugly creatures.  Sep 10, 2009 ~ 11:36am
Dennis Bullock  Oh my gosh I hear PETA calling! You animal!  Sep 10, 2009 ~ 11:11am
Michelle  Matt- usuaslly your posts make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. This morning, I am totally freaked out. What in the $%$# are those things? And what is with the horn thing on top of its head? I might have nightmares tonight. I need soemthing warm and fuzzy to counteract this recent post....maybe some pics of that sweet puppy of yours. Just a thought.  Sep 10, 2009 ~ 9:10am
Matt  Hey, Karen ~ it's a Nikon 60mm f/2.8 Micro (macro) lens. It's slow to focus, but when it finally gets there, it's great for portraits and close-ups.  Sep 9, 2009 ~ 10:42pm
Karen  these are awesome! loving that color! and i feel like they're right in front of my eyes! i must ask, what lens did you use??  Sep 9, 2009 ~ 10:26pm
